Too flat for MY needsSep 04, 2011
By CygnuS 550 cord has a multiude of purposes. I make paracord jewelry and decorations, for my tent and for the soldiers I meet while I am living and working in Afghanistan. This particular cord is made with core strands of a lesser quality than some others, even by the same supplier. The label on this product is G.I Plus. It carries the Rothco trademark, however, it has been my experience that some products are manufactered differently. I have recieved a purple and pink product by G.I Plus that has the fuller core strands that produce the results that the soldiers and I desire in our paracord jewelry and decorations. I recieved another G.I Plus color from a different supplier with the same flat type core strands and although I rated the product at an even 3 of 5, I got a reply from the vendor that my review was negative and harmful to the business. If you do not care for the fullness of your cord, then this will work for you. Paracord that has a flatness due to lesser quality core strands, do not meet MY needs. I am not saying I will not continue to purchase from this vendor, just not the yellow. It has also been my EXPERIENCE, that there are some colors, such as black, that are distributed by other manufacteres/suppliers, that come the same way. I got the yellow from 2 different sources and both came as G.I. Plus and both had the softer cores. It is a machining defect? Is it a color thing? I don't know. Just my HONEST observation.

Good product, but deceptive title.Jul 28, 2011
By Ossuary Online I ordered from Acme Prototype, LLC.
The product tag reads as follows:
===============================================
G.I. PLUS
Type III Commercial Made in the USA
NYLON PARACORD 100ft
550 Type III Commercial
Made by a Certified US Gov't Contractor
500 lb. Test, 7 Strand Core, 100% Nylon
Made in the USA Rothco
===============================================
Contrary to the product description, this paracord was manufactured by Rothco rather than Elite First.
This is commercial grade rather than true Mil Spec MIl-C-5040H TYPE III Paracord.
The cord shipped clean. The nylon is easy to burn and melts very clean, making it easy to seal cut ends to prevent fraying.

Bad Quality ControlJul 21, 2011
By Aaron Austin I kind of figured I was going to get some paracord that wasn't military spec when I purchased it after I did some research. I ordered 3 different colors at 100ft length. The black is what this bad review is about. I started to measure out a peace to make a key fob when I noticed the inner white nylon strand was threaded out of the outer nylon sheath and back into the outer nylon sheath. This is in multiple spots. Being that it is white on black I would have thought someone would have caught it before it got to me. I will use it anyways because it took them a week to ship it out to me, but only 24 hours from shipment to get to me. So far it is good for my purpose other then the quality control issue.

Good stuffFeb 28, 2011

Great quality - bright even color, tight weave, even made in US. Shipped fast.
I mostly use paracord for lanyards. This seems just a tad bit stiffer than what I normally use, but I think I like it better - it doesn't flop everywhere.

Not paracordJan 11, 2012
By Southern survivor This is nothing more than cheap nylon rope that can be picked up at walmart. Hardly paracord though. Don't waste your money here.
