4Great coat but with a few issuesDec 14, 2008
By Patrick Johnson "Pat the P"
I always loved my old vintage peacoat which has wound up on an ex-girlfriend, so I decided to buy a new one! It's incredibly warm and perfect for the winters here in Cleveland but I have had the same issues that I had with my old one. The buttons are not attached very well and have a tendency to fall off and the lining in the pockets is sub-par. Just add in some sewing into the price and it's still a great deal.

4Classic and UsefulJan 22, 2008
By Gary D. Grubbs
This particular style of peacoat is the standard issue for the Navy, or at least so similar that I can't tell the difference (I had one issued in the 80's while in the Navy). This nice, heavy wool has protected me from Milwaukee, Chicago, and now Asheville NC winters (Asheville is in the mountains of NC and quite chilly, windy, and wet in winter). Very effective.
My one complaint is that the buttons are not sewn on very securely. This was fixed in about 20 minutes with needle and thread, so not a big hassle.
Also, the pocket fabric is a bit thin and the seams pull apart fairly easily. Again, rather an easy fix and for the comparative price, well worth it.

4A Fine JacketJan 11, 2009
By aluminum falcon 3030
The jacket arrived on time. The jacket is pretty heavy which was a nice surprise. I am a lanky person so I was nervous on the fit of the coat. I got a XS based on other reviews which was the right decision (5'8" 140lbs). The fit of the coat is passable, not great, but passable. The diameter of the sleeves seem rather large to me and the chest fits but not a tailored fit. Living in Louisiana there has been maybe three cold enough days to warrant the coat so the price was right. My brother got a Kenneth Cole Pea Coat around the same time and I was able to try both on. They both fit about the same. The KC was much lighter though. Overall I would recommend this coat even for a lanky gentlemen, but don't expect a spot on vintage/slim/tailored (whatever you want to call it) fit.
