Durable, lightweight, fantasticJul 28, 2009
By Marsh S. I bought this bag my last year in school and it was great for carrying books and notebooks, pens, water bottles, flashdrives, and all those other things students carry around.
Then life got weird.
Over the past two years this bag and I have been to sea. I've carried it across Europe. We've explored the caves and jungles of Cambodia, and rowed down the fjords of Denmark. This bag has become one of my most trusted possessions.
When emptied it can be squeezed into a ball and tossed in a corner, or stuffed in a larger bag. It's roomy and comfortable, machine washable.
My criticisms are few and forgivable but worth mentioning. The zipper on the inside pocket broke just a few short months after buying the bag and hasn't worked since. As one reviewer also mentioned, the forward metal loop (the loop that connects the strap to the bag where it hangs under your arm, depending on how you wear it) twists lenghtwise. This will not cause the loop to open, but it wears into the canvas of the bag itself. It's not a huge issue, I've had this bag loaded to the brim and walked miles in it, but after over two years I expect the canvas to tear very soon. It's frayed about 60% of the way through.
The buckle on the strap squeaks a little on occasion when walking. It has gotten on my nerves from time to time, but for the most part it doesn't squeak, and when it does a simple shifting of the bag solves the problem.
But seriously, I've never had a bag put up with so much and be so useful.
It's not waterproof and not the best bag for a laptop. My laptop fits nicely in the bag and I have carried it many times, but it isn't padded or waterproof and as a result isn't the best bag if you carry your laptop regularly without a laptop sleeve.
Despite all that I highly recommend this bag. I mean, this is just a green canvas bag and I could write another 20 pages on how trusted it's been. We've been to museums in Paris and ridden elephants in Asia, soaked in the rough waters of the Atlantic and carried groceries home from the store.
This is a great bag.

A Great Big Canvas BagMar 02, 2008
By Dirk J. Willard

I bought this bag to hold my equipment, notebooks, thermos and other gear while clomping through an oil refinery. After a week of use, I think it will serve well. This is not your choice in bags if you want something to contain your laptop; they're making them too thin for the support offered by this bag.
Positives: * Long, adjustable strap; * Pockets are pretty deep, except side (see negatives); * Big, deep bag; and * Zipper pocket inside bag, small but useful for pens and such.
Negatives: * Canvas strap should be thicker with two stiches on either side, running the length, to avoid braying; * Flap: velcro bar runs horizontally but there are only two small bars on the opposite side (the bag) --- these are not strong; and * Side pockets --- too narrow but buttons are nice.
I plan to replace the velcro flap with a button clapse if the strap holds up for a month of abuse.
After 5 months of service I washed the bag in cold water. It faded a little as expected but did not shrink. Some were was noted in the bottom where a small hole developed. The bag is still useful. I did not add a button because there was no time.
If this review was helpful, please add your vote. I do this on side for free as a public service --thanks for your support.

Good bag, just a few tweaksMar 15, 2006
By K. A. Rhodes I've had this bag for about three months now and pretty much adore it. I take it back and forth with me to work, it's a good size to hold snacks, purse, couple packets of paper, and the front pockets work well for my cell phone and chargers. I even keep my keys in the side pockets.
A few things I'd change, though. It's completely open, so I'm glad I don't travel by foot or bus or somewhere crowded where someone could just reach in and pull things out. And the one side of the handle likes to twist the bracket holding it to the bag, I'm afraid the metal is going to bend at some point and open so that I'd have to find a new bracket. Oddly, just the one side does that.

Great bag!Dec 23, 2009

I love this bag: I can't believe how much stuff you can fit in this! It is exceptionally well designed and can hold almost anything you need in order to serve faithfully as a sort of briefcase, which is how I use it. Great stitching, relatively lightweight, easy to lug around. For the price, I sincerely don't believe you could do better.

Fairly Heavy, Fairly Floppy, Wrong ColorSep 14, 2009
By beanlobe

I can see how this might be a useful bag for some. For everyday use, I think it's fairly heavy (especially with a book or two inside), and flops around/flops open. The color was a medium to dark grey, rather than the dark green/olive in the description. There were also two snags in the fabric on the front - I'm sure they're inevitable, but I'd prefer to start clean and do my own snagging.
I've returned this produc.
